I thought I could update my blog when I’m in Guangzhou. Putting up stuffs I have written offline when I was travelling within the last 2 weeks.

I was wrong.

I can’t access WordPress blogs here. Very slow access to WordPress main page. No pictures. And there was just no way to access my blog. I googled and found that other people also encountered the same issue. They say, WordPress blogs are banned in China.

It is in times like this that I sometimes think about what the essence of censorship is. And I’m not talking about China only. A lot of other countries in the world are practising the same thing —to different extent— including Singapore. I’m questioning censorship in general terms, not tied to a specific country. So… what is it, really? The rights of the government to limit the freedom of their citizens to know or be exposed to certain things?
