The Best of Friends

Having best friends in life is one thing I am grateful about.

They are not necessarily the people I meet or talk to everyday. But whenever we meet again, there is always this warmth feeling. And we can always talk for hours. Without reservations. Without having to worry that we will be judged. Without having to worry that our deepest emotions are going to be used against us. And there is no competition. Nobody feels the need to be ahead of the others. There is only good intention of trying to understand and help each other.

That’s what I called the best of friends. And I’m lucky to have them. We have 20-30 years of friendship between us. Cos some of us started in kindergarten, then primary school. Secondary and high school.

Never mind that each one of us have different choices in our lives and that we may not always agree. For one, I may not fully agree with the decisions that my friend Bril took with regards of her life, as in, I would certainly never make the same choices as her. But still I respect her decision and I am happy that she starts thinking about getting her own independence. That things are actually getting better for her. And I guess, that’s what we can do as her friends, right? We can only listen and support. Help, if required.

Talking to them made me find myself again. As they reminded me, I have always had an excellent capability of understanding people. Reading people’s thoughts and underlying intentions. Even those I haven’t personally met. Which is probably why some of my friends find it easy to share their problems with me. Because I am able to see the big picture and help them to see it too. Thank you for reminding me again… For awhile I was stuck, unable to think clearly and understand her who is the closest to me. I became less intuitive, less sensitive. But now, I can see clearly.

Thanks pals… I can’t wait for the next time we meet again!

I like this shot of Cias and her little Tania. I always giggle when I see this picture. I think that’s a happy mother’s look on Cias’ face. :)

Oyin and Bril

Bril and her 9 year-old son! Yes, a few of my friends who started early already have kids around 10 year-old or so…
